I had the fantastic experience of giving a short talk at the Recruiter's Roundtable yesterday. Man, is Hallmark a sweet place to work for creatives. We hope to do some series on what it's like to work there, but Franki, my wife, was absolutely blown away at how Hallmark nurtures the creative impulse.
We had a lovely meal with Donna Turk, the Director of Creative Recruiting Services, her husband, Jacob Turk, whose running against Emanuel Cleaver for the 5th District US House Seat, and Doug Burris of Intronic Solutions, the connector who brought us all together.
If you're looking for a fantastic place to eat, the Grand Street Cafe had impeccable service and the best crabcakes we've had in a decade.
Having Franki and Jim Durbin as guests at the May KC Recruiter's Roundtable was fantastic. The topic was blogging and recruiting, and their expertise in the field of blogging, particularly as it relates to recruiting talent, was impressive, and certainly raised the level of understanding and excitement in the group about blogging. I appreciate Doug Burris inviting the Durbin's to facilitate our discussion on blogging.
I agree Hallmark is a wonderful place for creative professionals, but I'm a bit biased, of course. Check it out for yourself at www.HallmarkCreativeCareers.com. Midwest airlines recently did an article on companies young professionals find appealing to work at in the cities MIdwest flies in, and I was delighted they selected Hallmark's Creative Division as the employer of feature for Kansas City. You can read it at http://mymidwestmagazine.com/2007/05/01/work-well-play-well-live-well/
Jim's right: Grand Street Cafe is quite good. I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and loved it.
